Easy Saver Program Saves Big Money On Complaint Free Touch Screen Thermostats At Lowes

As the winter months settle in homeowners everywhere search for ways to keep their homes warm while cutting costs on their utility bills. Depending on the part of the nation one lives in, the use of gas and/or electricity can soar during the colder months. That’s why the sales of such easy saver items as insulation, caulking, weather-stripping, and even space heaters increase during this time of year. People are attempting to save money.

In most cases, homeowners prefer to make minor improvements such as these themselves. Perhaps it’s due to the state of the economy or maybe it’s because we have access to the Internet and numerous home improvement TV programs, but it seems that we are becoming a nation of do-it-yourselfers. Regardless of the reason, homeowners are taking on more and more projects that can often result in huge savings for them and increased equity in their home.

Proper insulation is always a good idea and depending on where you live, there is a recommended R-level that is right for your particular climate. Insulation acts as a barrier. Heat flows from a warmer to a cooler space, which means if a home is not properly insulated, the heat in living spaces will naturally flow to adjacent unheated areas, such as attics, garages, basements, or even the outdoors – costing the homeowner money.

Leaks that is as small as 1/8 inch around a door or window can result in major air loss. These leaks can usually be remedied with caulking or weather-stripping, but if the space is large a filler of wood stripping may be needed. In such cases, it is often necessary to call in the help of someone with professional skills in order to make the outcome look as good as possible.

The advantages of using space heaters have been questioned for years. Some of the older models are less energy efficient and may not be safe for use at all. The newer models are much safer; all are designed to turn off if tipped over. But even some of the newer models seem to use a substantial amount of energy. In most cases these devices should only be used to heat small areas.
